PREVIEW: Coventry City youngsters kick-off FA Youth Cup campaign at Preston

Coventry City's Under-18s side will take on youngsters from Preston North End at Deepdale...

4 December 2023

Coventry City Under-18s will kick-off their FA Youth Cup campaign at Deepdale on Wednesday evening as they take on Preston North End.

The young Sky Blues, managed by former Wales international Mark Delaney, will make the 150-mile trip to Lancashire as they look to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup, academy football's most prestigious competition.

City last won the competition in 1987, the very same season that saw the Club's senior team clinch the FA Cup, but last reached the final in 2000.

Meet the young Sky Blues:

Coventry come into Wednesday night's fixture looking to go beyond last season's FA Youth Cup campaign, that saw them force Premier League and Category 1 Academy side Southampton to extra-time.

The young Sky Blues were unlucky not to win that game, with Elliot Betjemann's free-kick the pick of the bunch that day in Leamington.

The fixture:

City will take on Preston at 19:00 GMT in Lancashire, at Preston North End's Deepdale Stadium.

Team news and live coverage will be available from 18:00 GMT on the Club's new Academy X.com account: @SkyBluesAcademy.
