OFFICIALS: Referee Watch versus Middlesbrough

David Webb will be the man in the middle...

31 December 2023

The EFL have confirmed that David Webb will be the man in the middle at the Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough.

City travel to the North East to face Boro on New Year's Day, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

Webb will take charge of his third Sky Blues fixture, having already been the man in the middle for the 3-3 draw with Watford and 1-0 defeat to Bristol City.

Webb will be assisted by Rob Smith and Matthew Smith, whilst Geoff Eltringham will act as fourth official.

After taking up the whistle aged 20, David Webb became an EFL Referee in 2008 following various spells in the Northern League and the National League.

He has taken charge of over 500 matches in professional football - including the League Two Play-Off Final between Coventry City and Exeter City in 2018, when the Sky Blues won promotion to League One.

Webb has been referee for two Sky Blues games this season - the 3-3 home draw with Watford in September and the 1-0 defeat at Bristol City in October.
