NEWS: Travel advice for festive home games

With two home games over the festive period between Christmas and New Year, we are highlighting the changes to public transport to supporters.

Coventry City host Sheffield Wednesday at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Boxing Day (3pm KO), with limited ticket availability and no tickets available on the day, before facing Swansea City on Friday 29th December (7:45pm KO).

The A444 Jimmy Hill Way will NOT be closed post-match for either fixture - fans are urged to take care when crossing this road post-match and to only use the designated crossing points.

The following update has been received from Transport for West Midlands regarding public transport for each of the games and the changes that there will be:

With a bumper crowd expected for Boxing Day, fans are urged to plan their journey to the Arena and to arrive early!

Boxing Day 

  • There are no train services on Boxing Day 
  • Bus services will be operating an alternative timetable on most routes with last journeys between 18:00- 20:00
  • The NX3 bus service will operate every 30 minutes until 6pm
  • The NX20 bus service will operate 2 services per hour until 6pm
  • The 20a bus service will operate a daytime service only and 60 and 148 services will not be operating.

What should you do  

  • Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey
  • Check timetables ahead of travel including the last service after the match.
  • To check festive services please visit  tfwm.org.uk/festive and use the Journey planner  
  • Could you retime your journey? Buses will be busier – plan ahead and keep moving      
  • If you do need to drive, please car share if you can.   

29th December  

  • Buses will be operating a Saturday service
  • Trains are operating with usual match day services with hourly calls at the Coventry Building Society Arena 

What should you do?  

  • Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey
  • Check timetables ahead of travel for last minute disruptions 
  • To check festive services please visit  tfwm.org.uk/festive and use the  Journey planner  
  • Could you drive for part of your journey? There are plenty of Park and Ride locations which will be quieter than normal.       
  • If you do need to drive, please car share if you can.
