Milan van Ewijk spoke to the local media earlier today, ahead of this weekend's clash with Sunderland.
The City defender will be playing in his first festive schedule, having moved to England this past summer.
Milan revealed it’s been a ‘rollercoaster ride’ for him since he joined the Club, but now he is growing in confidence and is enjoying his game.
How has he settled in…
“To be honest it has been quite a rollercoaster ride for me so far.
“There’s been a lot of ups and downs, but I think at the end, I can be proud of myself of the number of games that I still played and it's just a matter of time at that moment to develop and get used to the league.
“Now I just feel good, and I feel confident enough to just play and just my play my game.”
Is the Championship what he expected…
“50/50 to be honest. I think in the beginning, I had to get used to the speed and to the level and the amount of physicality.
“Also though, it is what I thought. The Championship is like a league below the Premier League so you couldn't expect anything else.
“But I feel good now and I feel confident and fee strong enough to go into duels and just feel good in general.”
Has the change in formation changed his role…
“Not really, because in Holland we used to play with four at the back, and sometimes we were five.
“I can play in both roles, but I think I still prefer playing with four at the back. It just suits me more and I can focus more on my opponent on the wing.
“Then attacking wise I can just play the right wing in front of me and just make the overlap and that's really my game.”
Clean sheets in recent games…
“Defence starts upfront. So, it's the whole team that's doing their job, but we make goals for ourselves and at the moment it’s looking good.
“We had a couple of games against tough opponents, and can we have showed ourselves and also the other teams that we are not a simple team to play against.”
Playing behind Tatsuhiro Sakamoto…
“I love him and playing with him on the right side.
“He’s always available to play and feed in behind and we’re slowly building a good chemistry between us.
“We just understand each other's games better and better and it's also happening in training, and it feels more natural then in the beginning, so I'm just happy that I can continue to play with him and hopefully we can make the best out of our games.”
Taking free-kicks for the team…
“I practice a lot on training. But at the moment when I train it's not looking good and I don't know how.
“But, when I take them it's just because I feel confident enough to take them and just hit them as good as I can and I just want to score one more or a couple more goals and not even just free kicks, I want to come contribute more.”
Coming up against Sunderland…
“It's a big stadium and I've heard there's also a great atmosphere in the stadium, so I'm excited to play there.
“Hopefully we can get the three points.”
