Kasey Palmer returned to the side against Swansea City as the Sky Blues were held to a draw at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The midfielder hadn't started a game for City since September, but he was recalled to the starting eleven against the Swans after returning from injury.
Palmer assisted Haji Wright for City's opening goal and after the final whistle, he looked back at the game and his inclusion in the eleven.
Reflecting on the result…
“To be so close to three points, it would have been three wins from three, it is disappointing to take but it is seven points from nine this week so it has been a good week overall.
“To get a point is not the worst result but considering we was just 30 seconds from three points, it makes it hard to take.
“We are confident we can build on this going into Middlesbrough.”
“Walshy (Liam Walsh) is a good player and he took it well. Good shot, good finish so it was one of them. We were always confident we could get back in the game and we did that and was in front for a lot of it.”
On the equaliser…
“I will take the assist but Haji Wright has done brilliantly with the left foot strike and you can see he is now coming into himself.
“He is now really performing how he probably thinks he can and I think he can still get better so that is scary for defences in the Championship.”
Ellis Simms’ leading goal…
“Haji was told about it literally five minutes ago but to be fair I think Ellis has just followed it in.
“Obviously, Haji thinks he has scored, and then now we have seen it, it is Ellis’ goal and that should do Ellis the world of confidence.
“Scoring goals for a striker is important so for him it is a goal and he will take it and move on.”
Swansea's late leveller...
“It is tough to take being so close but it is one of them. In the morning you wake up and it is another point, we have not lost although it feels like it now cos of the manner it happened.
“We need to move on, it happened now. We will look at it and see what we could have done differently, could we have not given the freekick away, could we have defended it better? Those little things, we are still a new group and there is more to come.”
On his game…
“I probably could have scored on another day but I will take it, I think I did quite well so it is a positive day for me.
“I did not know when I was going to come off but I knew I would at some point, it obviously being my first start but to get 60 minutes I am happy to be back.
“First start since injury so I am happy.”
“I feel good. I have trained for a while but obviously the manager has not rushed me back and taken our time with it. I just have to keep building on it now.”
The team at the moment...
“We have a strong squad. The depth in the squad is starting to show, and we saw that tonight with the subs and the changes before the game.
“It is good we have that depth and hopefully everyone can stay injury free because when you looked at the bench today there is still a lot of dangerous players.
“It is probably a good problem for the manager to have, having so many options in every position and everyone has come in today and done well. 30 seconds from winning another game so it is disappointing for those who have come into the team and disappointing for everyone because we have dropped points.”
Competition for places in attack…
“Haji is playing on the left but he is a striker. We got Godderz (Godden) and Ellis so there is a lot of options. I think Fabio (Tavares) is back fit now.
“For all of them I think they know they need to perform to stay in the team, and when you get your chance you take it. It is good for Ellis to score and good for Haji to get the assist.”
