TRANSFER: Haji Wright joins Coventry City

4 August 2023

Coventry City are delighted to announce the signing of Haji Wright!

The USA international striker has today completed a deal to join the Sky Blues from Antalyaspor on a four-year contract, following agreement of a club-record transfer fee.

25-year-old Wright began his career at New York Cosmos, joining Schalke 04 in Germany in 2016.

Following his spell there, which also included a loan with SV Sandhausen, Wright joined Dutch side VVV-Venlo for the 2019/20 campaign.

In 2020 Haji made the move to Danish Superliga club SønderjyskE, where he scored 13 goals in 37 games.

The 2021/22 season saw Wright move to Antalyaspor on loan and he scored 15 goals in 35 games during his temporary spell, including a hat-trick on his debut. The transfer was made permanent in July 2022 and Wright would net a further 16 goals in 29 games for the Turkish Superlig side.

Haji has represented the USA seven times at senior level, scoring 2 goals and representing his country at the 2022 World Cup, playing all four matches including starting against England.
