Coventry City XI have fallen to defeat in the final pre-season fixture of the summer for the Club's young stars, beaten 4-0 on the road by Nuneaton Borough.

The Sky Blues named a young side for their meeting with their nearby non-league opponents, who fielded a near-full-strength team ahead of their league opener on Saturday.

Evan Eghosa showed bright moments for City, while Bradley Stretton and Elliott Betjemann did their best to create from midfield.

Callum Perry and Dermi Lusala did well to marshall experienced forward Leroy Lita from causing problems during the early phases, but the Sky Blues were able to prevent the veteran from opening the scoring before the break will an arrowed effort from range.

After the break, Nuneaton found three more through Connor Tomlinson, Tyrell Waite and Oliver Szymanski.

City's main concern on the night was injuries to two of their talented youngsters, Tristen Batanwi and Cian Tyler, who were both forced off following collisions with Nuneaton players.

Tyler left the field on his feet while Batanwi departed on a stretcher.
