PREVIEW: Coventry City host Middlesbrough at the Coventry Building Society Arena

The Sky Blues host Boro in Coventry...

11 August 2023

The Sky Blues take on Middlesbrough at the Coventry Building Society Arena in their first home EFL Championship fixture of the season.

Date: 12 August 2023

Kick-off: 12:30 BST

Competition: Sky Bet Championship

Venue: Coventry Building Society Arena

Meet Middlesbrough:

Despite having faced Michael Carrick's side three times in City's last five competitive games, Sky Blues fans will see their side take on a very different-looking team to the one they beat in the SkyBet Championship Play-Offs.

Zack Steffen, Ryan Giles, Cameron Archer and Aaron Ramsey all returned to their parent Clubs over the summer and have been replaced Seny Dieng, Morgan Rogers and Terrell Agyemang, amongst others.

Carrick's side still boasts Paddy McNair, Dan Barlaser, Riley McGree, and top goalscorer Chuba Akpom, although Akpom has been ruled out by his manager for the weekend.

Mark Robins' verdict:

“I think it will be a brilliant atmosphere. I think a really good game," said Robins.

“They've obviously changed a bit from last year with loan players going back and what have you and it’s a similar boat to us.

“We've got, we've got, and it’s been a big turnover as well and a new influx of new players which obviously takes time to get going so yeah, from our perspective is really exciting.

“The new pitch is in; the new dressing rooms and it looks fantastic and we're just looking forward to getting back in front of our home support.”
