COMMUNITY: Coventry youngsters get creative with kit design competition!

24 August 2023

Last month Coventry City Football Club, Coventry Building Society Arena and Sky Blues in the Community teamed up to run a superb competition for local schools and children!

As anticipation was building for the new 2023/24 shirt to be revealed, we asked youngsters of Coventry to design their own Coventry City kit – with the best ones being displayed on the concourse wall at the Arena for the beginning of the new 23/24 season.

Sky Blues in the Community distributed the shirt templates across every Primary School in Coventry and Warwickshire during the final weeks of last term. With over 100 entries that flooding in, we were all amazed by the creativity and imagination in our young artists across the City.

Alan Diaz, Head of Concessions at Coventry Building Society Arena, said:

“We had some incredibly creative designs submitted to the competition and it was fantastic to see so many schools and children get involved.

“All of the entries to the competition were on display in the Family Zone next to the community wall for our first home game of the season, with thousands of fans stopping by during the day to take a look.

“It was very difficult to choose the winners as we were so impressed with the high standard of entries.”

All entries submitted were judged and five schools were selected and informed at the end of the school year. The 5 winning entries received:

  • Showing all winners where their kit design is being displayed at the Coventry Building Society Arena
  • Take all winners pitch side for a photo with their winning design
  • Meet a former CCFC player
  • Goodie bag from Coventry Building Society Arena
  • Ticket voucher for 1 adult and 1 child for a CCFC match for the upcoming season
  • £50 in book vouchers

Harvey Morgan, Business Development Manager at Sky Blues in the Community, commented:

“This was a great opportunity for Primary School students to showcase their artistic skills, imagination and creativity. Along with the club and Coventry Building Society Arena, we wanted to give local youngsters the chance to express themselves, whilst putting their personal touch on the club we all know and love.

"The feedback we’ve had has been fantastic and this is definitely something we will look to continue into the new school term. Thank you to all our schools and talented pupils that took part in the competition, and we’ll look forward to the next one!"

On behalf of Sky Blues in the Community, Coventry City and Coventry Building Society Arena, we’d like to thank all of you for your participation.
