The Sky Blues came from two goals behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Watford at the Coventry Building Society Arena
Goals at either side of the first half saw the Sky Blues behind at the break, despite a period of fight back in between the Watford strikes.
A rejuvinated City side burst out the traps after the restart and blitzed the Hornets to get two goals back and earn a point from behind.
Matty Godden had the first chance of the game but Hornets’ skipper Joao Pedro’s strike was more clinical down the other end to give his side an early lead.
A neat Sky Blues attack saw the ball land a the feet of Gustavo Hamer, who fired goal-bound to force a save from his namesake, Ben Hamer, as the Mark Robins' side looked to respond.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand drove down the left flank, moments later, and found Josh Eccles who opened up and tested his luck from distance, but his effort flew high of the mark.
Wilson-Esbrand ventured forward twice more before the half and came close on both occasions, but, again for City, wide of the target.
Despite the Sky Blues’ spell on top since going behind, it was the visitors that grabbed the game’s next goal when Imran Louza let fire into the bottom corner for two.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-2 Watford
The Sky Blues came close to pulling a goal back before the hour mark when Eccles’ pin-point pass found Ben Sheaf, who fired wide with a weak-footed effort.
City got their reward soon after as Godden’s crafty finish puzzled the Watford keeper and found its way into the back of the net.
A second in quick succession nearly followed for the Sky Blues as Hamer stole the ball up high, but his strike was cleared away from danger. A sign of City’s urgency, nonetheless.
Wilson-Esbrand’s wicked delivery from a short corner found an unmarked Sheaf in the box who looked certain ton score, but his header agonisingly sailed over the bar.
From agony to elation, however, as Sheaf arrived at the back post, this time from Callum Doyle’s cross, and swept home for the equaliser.
The Sky Blues searched for a winner and came close to stealing the game with chances to Sheaf and Godden.
In the end, the scores remained level as the two sides shared the points.
