PREVIEW: City take on the Royals at the CBS Arena

Noel Hunt's side are the opponents this weekend...

21 April 2023

The Sky Blues entertain Reading at the Coventry Building Society Arena this weekend.

Meet the Royals:

Reading will arrive at the Coventry Building Society on Saturday afternoon searching for their first win since February's 3-1 win over Blackpool. Since then, the Royals have failed to win in 10 attempts, falling to five defeats during that period.

The Club was also handed a six-point deduction by the EFL, dropping them right into the relegation scrap with just three games left of the 2022/23 campaign.

Noel Hunt's side will be without their joint-top goalscorer Andy Carroll (suspended) but will still have Tom Ince and Lucas Joao at their disposal.

Ince has proven to be Reading's most dangerous player so far this term with Junior Hoilett also impressing at full-back.

Inside the Sky Blues camp:

Mark Robins said: “The players have been magnificent all season but now they have got themselves into a position that the club has not been in for a long, long time and then just go and execute and perform.

“We have to believe, and the belief should be there because we’ve earned that.

“They’ve played really well, and we’ve pick up a lot of points since the start of the season, because the first seven games of the season were a washout for us.

“Since that point, they’ve done fantastically well, so let’s just go with belief and play our game. There’s not much more we can do now other than keep giving them the direction and information and also be positive.”

Reading’s last six:

  • Reading 1-1 Luton Town
  • Reading 0-0 Burnley
  • Preston North End 2-1 Reading
  • Reading 1-1 Birmingham City
  • Bristol City 1-1 Reading
  • Reading 1-1 Hull City
