INTERVIEW: Kyle McFadzean Stoke City reaction

Defeat for the Sky Blues...

1 April 2023

Kyle McFadzean gave an honest assessment of City’s 4-0 defeat to Stoke at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Sky Blues fell behind with two goals in the first half, before two more following in the final twenty minutes to put the game out of reach.

Defeat is only the first in ten games for McFadzean and his teammates, but the Captain for the afternoon admitted it was one of the worst afternoon’s his had in a Coventry shirt.

Reflecting on the game…

They were a lot better than us in every department and they worked really hard and they’re a good team.

“They had way too many chances, and we were lucky to just be 2-0 down. It could have been a lot more.

“We weren’t good enough as a team. It’s nothing to do with the international break. We should have been better.”

Addressing the performance…

“I would say it’s the worst afternoon I’ve had in a Coventry shirt. We just need to bounce back as a team and forget about it.

“We will address it next week and look ahead to Swansea now.”

Other results in the league going City’s way…

“It weren’t the result we wanted, but I’ve just looked at other results and we’re still in with a shout, so we have to put it right Friday.

“We’ve got lucky in terms of the other results in the league, but it was a difficult afternoon and we will have a look at it next week and we need to put it right.”

Looking to bounce back next week…

“Disappointing afternoon. We have a game coming Friday and we need to put it right.

“We’ve lost one game in ten. I know it’s a difficult afternoon and losing 4-0 isn’t ideal, but results have been lucky for us and if we can go to Swansea next week and get a result then you never know, we have to believe.

“Losing a game when its important and we only have seven games left is difficult, we need to go to Swansea and have a good go.”

Seven games to go…

“We’re not too far away, we don’t want to get further away because games are running out.

“We have seven games left, we need to have that chance, we have to keep going and believe in what we’re doing.”
