Sky Blues midfielder Jamie Allen says it was an easy decision to put pen to paper on a new deal with Coventry City, as his most impressive season yet in Club colours nears its end.

Allen has regularly been amongst the goals from midfield this season, second in the scoring charts (7) behind top goalscorer Viktor Gyökeres (17).

After signing his new deal with the Club, that will keep him in Coventry until at least the summer of 2025, Allen spoke to the media of the progress he has seen in his years in Sky Blue.

On his new contract:

"I am very happy. We were not talking for that long and we reached a deal, so I am very happy to be staying here for a few more years.

"I have always said, I am enjoying my football here. I am playing games so I am happy to stay on."

On his journey with the Club:

"There is a big difference here at the Club now. We're getting stronger in the Championship, as we should be, and we're pushing on.

"Everything has changed since I joined, even though we got promoted in my very first season.

"We can only keep climbing, if we're steady at doing what we're doing. We're going to push ourselves over these next seven games and we've got a really good chance to get inside those top six."

"There have been ups and down, like everyone really. I have had injuries but I have always managed to crack on.

"There was some time when I was out of the team but I am now back in and I am staying in, I have done for a long period of time."

On his role with the Club, and having captained the side:

"If any young lads need me, I am here for them to give them my answers. I have got experience now and I can help other players.

"On the pitch, I like to think that I can play to a high level. Hopefully other try to follow my lead. In that way, I do my talking on the pitch, not off it."

On Saturday's defeat:

"We've tried to get it out of our system and focus on Swansea. Training has been good and we're looking forward to the game and to putting it right.

"We went nine games unbeaten before Saturday. Our spirits were high and as soon as we forget about it, we'll get back to it.

On Friday's upcoming clash with Swansea City:

"They're a passing side. They'll be good on the ball and they'll be in a good place after their win over Cardiff.

"If we go into every game believing that we're going to win, then we'll get the points. We just want to win the games and then see where it takes us come the end of the season."
