COMMUNITY: SBitC Player Development Centre 2023/24

17 April 2023

Sky Blues in the Community are recruiting for the Player Development Centre scheme for 2023/24 season.

The Player Development Centre scheme offers advanced football coaching with a technical and tactical focus for children and young people of all footballing abilities and experiences. We have a strong belief that for players to be able to continuously improve, develop and reach their full potential they need to train and play with others of a similar level. For this reason, we have a player pathway in place where players can move up or down so we can make sure they are in a group which is both challenging but also gives them a chance to have success.

The mission statement for the Sky Blues in the Community Player Development Centre is ‘To provide high quality coaching and a positive football environment to support players to progress and reach their full potential’. We achieve this by providing a positive learning environment that focusses on each individual player, rather than team results.

We understand that all players are different, which is why we follow the FA ‘Four Corner Model’, which looks at the whole player including: Technical and Tactical, Physical, Social and Physiological areas of their game.

We do not make any promises that players involved in our PDCs will become professional footballers, but what we do guarantee is a high-quality coaching environment that improves the technical and tactical understanding of every player.

SBITC are a not-for-profit registered charity. This means that the costs of participating in our player development centre is calculated to cover all of the running costs we encounter.

Open Trial information & dates:

Our open trials will be running over May & June 2023. An initial assessment will run week commencing Monday 8th May 2023 completely FREE of charge. The purpose of this initial assessment is to get an understanding of which level on our player development pathway we feel will best suit new players. It is also an opportunity for the players / parents to ask any questions about the development centres before committing to the full trial period.

From experience we know that we cannot fully assess an individual’s ability from one training session. As a result, players that enjoy their initial assessment and would like to continue will then be allocated a group to train with (alongside our existing players) for the following 4 weeks. During this period, we will try our best (subject to the number of players) to offer all players the opportunity to play in at least one match. Seeing all players over this length of time in both training and matches gives us the best opportunity to determine which level on our pathway will be best suited to them to aid their ongoing development.

Days, Times, and Venues of training and matches will be confirmed to players who book on.

Cost: Initial Assessment FREE of charge

£24.00 for remaining 4 weeks of trial.

To register a player for the forthcoming trials please click on the link which will take you to an online form to give consent (once we receive a copy of the completed form, we will respond ASAP with further details of our trials)
