PREVIEW: Sky Blues U21s travel to Crewe

The Sky Blues will take on Crewe Alexandra on Monday afternoon, in their fourth fixture of the new Professional Development League campaign.

John Dempster's young Sky Blues side head into Monday's afternoon's meeting with Crewe Alexandra placed fifth in the Northern Section of the Professional Development League.

They started their season with a comfortable win over Reading U21s at The Alan Higgs Centre, but have since stumbled to back-to-back defeats against Charlton Athletic U21s and Millwall U21s.

Their defeat against Millwall saw them score twice but fall to a 3-2 defeat, while their trip to Charlton resulted in a 2-1 blow.

City will be without midfielder Aidan Finnegan for their trip to Crewe, with the yougnster having been sent off in stoppage time against the Lions.

The division remains tight, however, with a win enough to elevate the Sky Blues to second.

Tom Billson; Dermi Lusala, Jay McGrath, Abel Alabi, Tristen Batanwi; Aiden Finnegan, Ricardo Dinanga (Callum Perry '71), Evan Eghosa, Will Bapaga, Harrison Nee, Tom Costello.

Opposition:

Crewe Alexandra U21s have only been in action twice this season in the PDL and are yet to taste victory.

Michael Jackson's side have tied both of their games so far this campaign, drawing in both a thriller with Swansea City U21s and closely-fought meeting with QPR U21.

Their season started with a 2-2 home draw against the Swans, with goals from Matus Holicek and Joel Tabiner, and continued with a 1-1 home draw against Rangers, with a goal from Connor Evans.

The Sky Blues did the double over Crewe Alexandra U21s last term, on their way to clinching the Professional Development League title.

Crewe were beaten 3-1 at The Alan Higgs Centre, with City goals from Jordan Shipley, Josh Reid and Fabio Tavares, before thumping the Alex 4-0 on the road later that season, thanks to goals from Ricardo Dinanga Harrison Nee and a brace from Will Bapaga.
