NEWS: Sky Blues welcome Coventry City Women and Girls FC to Saturday's game

Bucket collection, half-time parade and more for our partner club...

Coventry City and Sky Blues in the Community will welcome our partner club Coventry City Women and Girls FC to Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion.

Our partnership is now in its seventh year, with the last 12 months being momentous for women’s football in this country as the Lionesses won the EUROs tournament.

It has also been a year of growth for Coventry City Women and Girls FC, which has seen it expand with more teams, a new website, new coaching staff and new home ground – while remaining a grassroots club focused on increasing participation and ensuring girls and women enjoy playing football.

Cov Girls Logo.jpgCoventry City Girls FC is an FA Charter Standard club, run by volunteers that work tirelessly to raise funds, manage teams and ensure all FA standards are met, while proudly wearing the Sky Blues badge.

They were founded in 1995 and now have expanded to 17 teams ranging from Under-9 to up to the Women’s First-Team.

Laina Tebbutt, who is chair of Coventry City Girls and Women FC, is now also a trustee of Sky Blues in the Community.

The first-team began their season Sunday with a 4-1 win against Wyrley Ladies at their new home, the Kenilworth Sporting Ground.

Saturday will see our partnership continue, as Coventry City Girls are welcomed to the Coventry Building Society Arena for a bucket collection prior to the Sky Bet Championship game to help raise money for the Club.

Players and parents from Coventry City Girls FC will be outside the Arena from 1:30pm up until kick-off and all donations are welcome. Players and officials from the club will also be parading the pitch at half-time, as well as watching the action at the Arena.

Players from CCWGFC will also be forming the pre-match guard of honour as the teams come out, and they will also be the ball collectors during the game too.
