Sky Blues Under-21s Head Coach John Dempster is expecting a tough challenge when his side travel to Birmingham next week.
City are back in action on Monday 26th September, as they travel to St Andrew’s to face Steve Spooner’s Birmingham City in the Professional Development League.
The fixture marks the first of two in the space of five days for the Sky Blues, with Barnsley to come at the Alan Higgs Centre later in the week.
Dempster’s side fell short last time out against Sheffield Wednesday, when despite a Harrison Nee strike, City were on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat.
The 21s coach is hoping for a response from his side come kick-off against Birmingham.
“It'll be a physical challenge because there'll be less time to rest and recover,” Dempster said.
“It'll hopefully be an enjoyable game. Birmingham away is our first one at the stadium; St Andrew’s, which some of the boys will be familiar with from our time that we spent there for a short period.
“Then we've got Barnsley away as well, so that's always a difficult physical challenge.
“It will certainly be interesting to see how the players deal with the two-game week and hopefully we can start both of those games better than we did against Sheffield Wednesday.”
Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm at St Andrew’s on Monday 26th September, with live updates and post-match reaction coming to supporters across social media channels and the official club website.
