Jay McGrath is looking to help the Sky Blues U21s make The Alan Higgs Centre a "fortress" this season, after being handed the captain's armband by boss John Dempster.

The 19-year-old will lead the young Sky Blues into their third fixture of the season on Tuesday afternoon, as they welcome an in-form Millwall to Coventry.

The Lions have won each of their opening four fixtures in the Professional Development League, scoring 14 goals along the way.

City, meanwhile, started their campaign with a 3-0 win over Reading before falling to defeat last time out against Charlton.

"It's been a good start to the season, especially with our performance against Reading U21s," said McGrath.

"Against Charlton we struggle a bit but we came back in the second half and performed really well. We had lots of chances to level the game but that's just how it goes sometimes.

"There are plenty of lessons learned from that game. The lads have been in and training hard, looking good, since that one.

"Millwall will be a tough test; they are good every year. But we know what we bring and we will be ready for the challenge."

Coventry will be without Danny Cashman for the remainder of the season, after the young forward completed a Deadline Day loan move to Walsall in order to gain more senior experience.

However, his departure will offer others the chance to step into the side and continue the club's impressive record at The Alan Higgs Centre.

"We've got a lot of quality within the group. Danny [Cashman] has now left us on loan but other players with quality will come in to replace him, players such as Harrison [Nee] and Ricardo [Dinanga]," he continued.

"It's been a good start to the season for me personally, and it is also an honour that John [Dempster] has trusted me with the armband.

"I am looking to lead the boys to more wins and to defend our title. That's what we want to do.

"Last season, we were very good at The Alan Higgs Centre. We want people to be scared to come and play here. We want to turn this place into a fortress."
