The new pitch at Ryton is nearly ready for the Sky Blues to begin training on.

Circa £300k has been spent by the Sky Blues on the new reinforced natural hybrid surface at the training ground for pitch 1 and also the training grids.

The synthetic carpet was installed at the start of July, with the natural grass surface growing through the carpet since then. Shortly, it will be ready for Mark Robins' squad to train on for the first time.

There has also been an installation of new drainage and pop up sprinklers.

Mixto is the surface which has been installed at Ryton - this is a reinforced natural hybrid surface, specifically designed to serve a variety of needs for sports surfaces. It consists of a synthetic and a natural grass component, where the artificial matrix is perfectly designed to better promote the initial germination, growth and development of the natural grass.

Mixto’s composite system creates the right conditions for perfect oxygenation, the permeability of the surface layer and an ideal air-water-soil balance, whilst also preventing the formation of muddy areas or waterlogging. Mixto also provides stability, permeability, and maximum safety for players.
