Ahead of Wednesday night's meeting between the Sky Blues and Luton Town, we take a look back at a classic match from the past...

On October 28, 2017, City made the trip to Keilworth Road for a SkyBet League Two meeting between two promotion candidates.

Mark Robins' side were looking to bounce back from relegation out of League One, and travelled to Luton in sixth place in the fourth division, with their opponents in second.

The hosts dominated much of the early chances but it was the Sky Blues who took the lead when Marc McNulty nodded home a perfect cross from Jodi Jones.

During the second half, Luton forward Danny Hylton missed a number of golden chances, including a one-on-one with goalkeeper Lee Burge, before a last-ditch foul saw Hatters defender Glen Rea shown a straight red card.

Fom the resulting free-kick, Coventry academy graduate Jordan Shipley fired home a memorable second before Duckens Nazon, with a winding run, made it three in stoppage time.

City would end the season with a League Two Play-Off triumph over Exeter City, while Luton were promoted to SkyBet League One automatically.

Sky Blues XI: Lee Burge; Jack Grimmer, Rod McDonald, Jordan Willis, Ryan Haynes; Jodi Jones (Jordan Shipley 90'), Michael Doyle, Liam Kelly, Peter Vincenti (Max Biamou 82'); Marc McNulty, Jordan Ponticelli (Duckens Nazon 81').

Unused subs: Liam O'Brien, Tom Davies, Chris Stokes, Callum Maycock.
