CLASSICS: Birmingham City 2-4 Sky Blues

We look back at a classic meeting between the Sky Blues and their Saturday opponents...

16 September 2022

Ahead of this weekend's trip to Birmingham, we take a look back at a classic meeting with Blues from the past...

On April 15, 2022, the Sky Blues made the short trip to Small Heath to take on Birmigham City at St Andrews.

Mark Robins' side arrived sporting their white third strip, but the afternoon could not have got off to a worse start at the hosts struck twice, early, through Kristian Pedersen and Gary Gardner.

But for the remainder of the afternoon, the travelling Sky Blue Army were treated to an unforgetable comeback and turnaround.

Gustavo Hamer played a vital part in three goals, as he delivered crosses for Ben Sheaf (who scored his first and second goals for the club in quick succession) and Michael Rose to force home.

And the victory was confirmed in stoppage time by Callum O'Hare, as he latched onto a loose ball in the penalty area to tap home one of the easiest goals he will ever score.

The game's final goal was then followed by the birth of an iconic celebration, as O'Hare put on a pair of sunglasses and spread his arms to the crowd.

Birmingham City 2-4 Coventry City.
