City were fought back to snatch a 3-3 draw against Peterborough United U21s...

25 October 2022

Sky Blues Under-21s fought back from behind to snatch a point away at Peterborough on Tuesday afternoon, with honours even following a dramatic 3-3 draw.

Ricardo Dinanga and Justin Obikwu were both on target for John Dempster's side, after an early Posh own goal put City ahead after just two minutes.

The young Sky Blues took the lead almost instantly, when Peterborough United defender James Dornelly turned into his own net after just two minutes.

Posh fought back with Tom Billson forced into making a number of saves before the hosts found their equaliser just before half-time, when Oscar Tonge's cross was fired in off the head of Joseph Taylor. Just one minute later, Posh were ahead as Andrew Oluwabori doubled his side's lead.

However, on the stroke of half-time, the Sky Blues levelled the game, sending them into the break at 2-2.

After the break, City almost took back the lead of the game when Tom Costello's lobbed effort was stopped by the side netting.

But it was Costello who turned provider to help the young Sky Blues draw level late on, when his pass found substitute Justin Obikwu, who made no mistake with his finish, in the area.

Home goals: Taylor 33', Oluwabori 34'.

Away goals: Donnerly 2' (OG), Dinanga 45'.

Yellows: Rowe 24', Nee 52', Corbett 89' (Peterborough United).

Sky Blues starting XI: Tom Billson (GK), Blaine Rowe, Josh Reid, Ryan Howley, Abel Alabi, Jay McGrath (C), Ricardo Dinanga, Marco Rus, Will Bapaga, Harrison Nee, Tom Costello.

Subs: Daniel Rachel (GK), Dermi Lusala, Justin Obikwu, Elliott Betchjeman, Callum Perry.
