PREVIEW: Sky Blues travel to Stoke-on-Trent

City take on the Potters on the road...

21 October 2022

The Sky Blues travel to the bet365 Stadium to face The Potters in a Sky Bet Championship fixture. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the opponents...

Opposition:

Stoke City will welcome the Sky Blues to the bet365 Stadium having fallen to defeat last time out, against Rotherham United.

Ahead of the fixture, the Potters recorded back-to-back wins against Preston North End and Sheffield United, lifting them to 16th in the standings.

Under new manager Alex Neil, who will face the Sky Blues for the second time this season having recently left Sunderland, Stoke have witnessed a lift in recent results.

However, their home form has far from impressed. The Potters have won only one of their last six at their Staffordshire ground.

Mark Robins on Stoke:

"They have got good players. There is no doubt, it's a really good squad. They have players coming back from injuries and plenty of pace in their attack.

"Phil Jagielka is still playing, and he is incredible. He is a top player and he remains that way.

"It will be a good game tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it.

"We have over 2,400 of our supporters going and it will be a really good atmosphere."

Alex Neil's thoughts:

“Coventry are not, in my opinion, a bottom-of-the-table team. They’ve played [fewer] games than everyone else, for a start.

“They’re a good outfit and they’ve got some good players. Before [Wednesday night], we’d played two really difficult games and won both of them - but then we’ve played as well, if not better, tonight and we lost.

"That’s the Championship!"
