PREVIEW: Sky Blues travel to Ashton Gate

City take on Nigel Pearson's side...

4 October 2022

The Sky Blues travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City in a Sky Bet Championship fixture. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the opponents...

Opposition:

Bristol City were on the end of a 2-1 defeat at home to Queen's Park Rangers on Saturday. Nakhi Wells scored for the Robins, but two first-half goals consigned them to defeat.

Pearson's side currently sit 12th in the table, having won four of their eleven games so far, but they have tasted defeat in their last three league fixtures.

Mark Robins' thoughts:

"I think it’s a tough league but we go there with renewed confidence and, hopefully, we can build on that. Take nothing for granted, we’re going have to work really hard to get something from there," he said.

"We’re being supported by an incredible crowd who want to see the players doing well, and these lads will reciprocate with the performances.

"It gives you lift off, theres no doubt. We’ve been crying out to be able to play a run of games and its just not happened but now it can happen and we can grow into it."

Kasey Palmer's thoughts:

"Hopefully we can go there and get a win but, more importantly, we need to perform like we did against Middlesbrough," he said.

"If we play like we did on Saturday, we'll get points against most teams. We have a run now of Saturday and Tuesday fixtures, and that's what we've missed. We haven't played enough games but now we can gather some momentum and pick up more points.

"We've already met them in the cup but we can't read anything into that. We were still trying to find our feet at that point but now we feel better prepared, and we'll need to be."
