PREVIEW: City take on the Bluebirds

The Sky Blues head to Wales to take on Cardiff City...

14 October 2022

The Sky Blues travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to face The Bluebirds in a Sky Bet Championship fixture. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the opponents...

Opposition:

Cardiff City head into this weekend’s fixture managerless, following the departure of Steve Morrison earlier this season.

The Bluebirds had a busy transfer window, recruiting 19 new faces, as they completed an overhaul of their squad with Morrison at the helm.

However, despite an opening day victory over recently relegated Norwich City, a mixed run of results ultimately cost Morrison his job in the middle of September.

Since then, results have seen Cardiff rise to 10th in the Championship under the guidance of Caretaker boss Mark Hudson.

Mark Robins on Cardiff:

“They’re a good side and well organized. Obviously Mark Hudson has taken over and he has got them really well organized

“They defend well, and they try and limit space and they’ve got some really talented players.

“Steve Morrison worked hard over the summer with recruitment and the team and dynamic changed and they were successful on that front.

“I think they’ve been up and down in terms of results, but the performances have been decent, and they have some good players in the side with some know how.

“As usual Championship games are always difficult, but from out perspective, we have to focus on us and keep doing that and keep improving as we go.

Mark Hudson's thoughts:

“Seven points in three games was an excellent week, but it is only one week in a season, and you can’t rest on that,”

“If you look at Coventry, they are a few games behind everyone so you can’t take into account that position and we know it’s going to be tough.

"We know they’re a good side and you have to respect everyone in this division. At our place we know it’s something we can look forward to, though."
