NEWS: Coventry City confirm exploring backup plans to host Tuesday's game versus Blackburn Rovers

28 October 2022

Coventry City can confirm that it is exploring alternative backup plans to host Tuesday night’s home game against Blackburn Rovers.

This is due to the current situation at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with the period of notice of administration for Arena Coventry Limited ending on Monday 31st October – the day before the scheduled home game against Rovers on Tuesday 1st November.

We must be clear that we want to be able to play our game at the Coventry Building Society Arena. However in the circumstances, which are outside of our control, we must explore alternative plans as this may not be possible.

We remain in constant dialogue with Arena Coventry Limited, Coventry City Council and the EFL regarding the current situation at the Arena. We are also keeping Blackburn Rovers up to date.

Following dialogue with the EFL, the Club is aware of its ongoing requirement to fulfil our fixtures as scheduled and mindful that there is minimal room within the fixture calendar following postponements earlier this year. The EFL has informed the Club that they should explore alternative options to ensure the fixture is played as scheduled, in the event that the CBS Arena is not available.

We will continue to communicate with supporters as and when we’re able to do so regarding Tuesday’s game, and we would like take this opportunity to thank them for their patience and understanding.

For the avoidance of doubt, Saturday’s home fixture versus Blackpool is unaffected and will take place at the Coventry Building Society Arena as scheduled.

Tickets for the game against Blackburn Rovers will be removed from sale as a consequence.
