INTERVIEW: Jonathan Panzo talks clean sheets, goals and climbing the table

The defender looks ahead to the trip to Stoke...

21 October 2022

Defender Jonathan Panzo is enjoying his run in the Sky Blues side, as he reflected on his time at the club ahead of the weekend’s trip to Stoke City.

Panzo joined City on loan from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window and since his arrival he has made his mark at the heat of defence.

The centre-back has been part of a run of games which has seen City concede just one goal in their last six games.

Speaking to the press earlier today, Panzo told how he has settled in at Coventry and is looking to help the Sky Blues continue climbing the table.

How has he settled in…

“All the boys have helped me to settle in and not only the boys, the staff have as well and I’m really enjoying it.

“I knew a few boys before I came here, so that helped me, and it feels like a family and we’re all in it together and we all fight for each other.”

The defence keeping clean sheets…

“I feel like we’re getting used to each other and knowing one another’s strengths and weaknesses and we’re helping each other and working together to get the results and be the best that we can

“As a defender you don’t want to concede, so we just need to keep doing what we’re doing and keeping clean sheets

“We’re growing together as a unit and we have quality, I mean I could come out for Callum or anyone else can come out or in, so I feel like we’re all confident and believe in each other and that’s a positive that really helps.”

Looking for his first goal…

“I think I used them all up in pre-season!

“Hopefully you never know, I could score one tomorrow, there’s still loads of games left, every time there’s a corner, I want to get a goal, but it hasn’t happened yet, but I’m hoping it will soon.”

The support from the fans…

“They’re great, the atmosphere is mad and we’re always fighting till the end and they’re always with us and to know that helps us when we’re out there and it’s nice to know we have them there.”

Moving up the table…

“To be honest, I do look at the table so to move up is a positive that we’re moving in the right direction, and we want to continue that and keep going.

“I think we can go far; I think we can get into that top ten definitely.”
