INTERVIEW: Fankaty Dabo on Bristol City and hard-fought point

Fankaty Dabo has shared his thoughts on a hard-fought meeting with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Coventry were held to a goalless draw in the South West, at the end of an encounter that could have been won by either side.

Dabo played his part in keeping the club's third clean sheet on the bounce, and helping his side to their fourth unbeaten fixtures on the spin.

Speaking to the assembled media at full-time, Dabo praised his side's character and looking ahead to a tough meeting with Burnley on Saturday.

On the season so far...

“We had a bit of adversity and we didn't start well, but hopefully that's now behind us and now we can kick on.

“The squad realised that nothing is going to be given to us. It was a difficult start and sometimes you think it's just going to change but it doesn't just change.

"You have to work to make sure it changes and I think now we’re working hard and we know what we want to achieve, so we're going to work hard to get it."

On chipping in with an assist versus Middlesbrough…

“It’s always nice to get in on the assists and make sure another boy scores, so hopefully I’ll get a lot more.

“It’s great to have someone like Viktor Gyökeres with the strength and the pace up front, but it’s not even just Vik, it’s Matty Godden, Tyler Walker, Favio Tavares and Martyn Waghorn who can all finish chances that when they get through on goal, nine times out of 10 they’ll score!"

On the club's third consecutive clean sheet…

“We’re proud of that. Even though it’s not just my job to make sure we get clean sheets, we're all together.

“As a team, I feel like we're feeling more proud to make sure that we get more."

On the club's league position and climbing the table…

“W’re confident that we’re better than the league position shows.

“We’ll take it one game at a time. The more we win, the more we move. The more we draw, the more we move.”

On the returning Callum O’Hare and Liam Kelly…

“It's never nice to see someone with a long-term injury like Callum's, but even Skip' (Liam Kelly) is back on the grass for training.

“When everyones back, we’ll be buzzing as a squad and as long as we can have a fully fit squad, everyone is happy and there will be more competition for places and for the better really.”

On facing Ian Maatsen at the weekend…

“It’s all fun and games.

“We don’t speak before games and when we cross that white line, it’s war, so we’ll see who comes out on top.”
