CLASSICS: Cardiff City 2-2 Sky Blues

The day Oliver Norwood's late leveller salvaged a point for the Sky Blues...

Ahead of Saturday's encounter, we take a look back at a classic trip to Cardiff...

Oliver Norwood's last-gasp leveller salvaged the Sky Blues a point on a classic meeting with Cardiff City, back in 2012.

The Sky Blues, then managed by Andy Thorn, arrived at the Cardiff City Stadium as the Championship's 22nd-placed team, while the Bluebirds had their sights set on moving into the play-off places.

The hosts took the lead early, when an in-swinging corner defelcted off the back of striker Cody McDonald and into the corner.

It took Coventry until the 69th minute to find a reply, when right-back Jordan Clarke twisted and turned between defenders and arrowed an effort into the far corner.

Their lead lasted less that 15 minutes, however, when Nuneaton-born Peter Whittingham arrived on the scene to volley in Cardiff's second goal with just seven minutes left on the clock.

But deep into stoppage time, Manchester United loanee Oliver Norwood recieved the ball from Gary McSheffrey before picking out the far corner with an unsaveable strike from 25-yards, to snatch his side a point.

Sky Blues goals: Jordan Clarke 69', Oliver Norwood 90'.

Sky Blues team that day: Joe Murphy; Jordan Clarke, Richard Keogh, Nathan Cameron, Martin Cranie (Chris Hussey 87'); Sammy Clingan (C), Oliver Norwood, Conor Thomas (Gary Deegan 90'), Gary McSheffrey; Cody McDonald (Clive Platt 70'), Alex Nimely.

Unused subs: Chris Dunn, Cyrus Christie.
