CLASSICS: Bristol City 1-2 Sky Blues

We take a look back at a memorable meeting between Coventry City and Bristol City...

3 October 2022

On their last trip to Ashton Gate, the Sky Blues played out a memorable 2-1 victory over our Tuesday night opponents...

On 22 February 2022, Mark Robins' side arrived in Bristol looking to do the double over Bristol City.

Earlier that season, the Sky Blues had stormed to a 3-2 win over the Robins by fighting back from behind to win the game at the death.

However, at Ashton Gate, it was Coventry who took the lead through a well-struck, close-range effort from Ian Maatsen, assisted by Gustavo Hamer.

Their lead did not last, however, with Russell Martin levelling for Bristol City during the second half.

Nevertheless, as the Sky Blues did so often that season, Viktor Gyokeres was on hand during the final moments to fire Hamer's pass home and secure the win for Coventry.
