The young Coventry City supporter who wrote Viktor Gyokeres’ song got to meet his hero on Saturday, and was given a pair of signed boots by the Sky Blues striker!
8-year-old Arron Wise has been attending Sky Blues games since he was a baby and earlier this season penned the song that the Sky Blue Army has been serenading the Swedish striker with since.
To the tune of Spirit in the Sky, first written and recorded in the 1960s by Norman Greenbaum and later covered by Doctor and the Medics among others, Arron wrote lyrics that weeks later would be sung by thousands of City fans.
Arron attended the Bedworth and Nuneaton Supporters Club meeting at the end of April, alongside his Dad Ben, and it was there that he met Sky Blues Chief Executive Dave Boddy, revealing to him that he hadn’t actually met the Sky Blues’ top scorer.
The following Saturday, Arron and his family got to meet Viktor ahead of the final home game of the season at the Coventry Building Society Arena, when Viktor presented Arron with a pair of signed boots!
Arron has been hard at work penning other songs for the 22/23 season, so you may hear his latest composition at a Sky Blues match next season…
Thank you for your support Arron!
