Sky Blues Under-23s Play-Off semi-final hero Ryan Howley, has been speaking about the excitement within the group ahead of tonight’s final.
The midfielder scored the fifth in a 5-4 win against Ipswich Town at the Coventry Building Society Arena as City booked their place in the final against Bristol City.
Howley, who was named the EFL’s Apprentice of the Season a few weeks ago, is looking forward to the opportunity which awaits him and his team mates.
“I’m really excited for the final.
“One of our aims at the start of the season were to reach the final and it’s a great achievement and we’re all looking forward to.
“The main target was to get into the semi-finals at first and when we achieved that, it was a case of taking it game by game and now we’re here we want to win the final.”
City have been in training all week, finalizing their preparations for the test of Bristol City, a side they came up against only a few weeks ago.
“Everyone is feeling good ahead of the game.
“Training has been good all week and the lads are all in good spirits and we’re all just really excited for kick-off.
“We played them not long ago and we know about their threats and how good they are, but we know we have the quality to beat them.
“If we would have taken more of our chances in the game last time we played then we would’ve probably beat them, so we need to take that into the game.”
After scoring the winner to send City to the final, Howley told how the post-match celebrations just shows how together this team is and their willingness to fight until the end.
“It was an unreal feeling to get the last minute winner and we all deserved it and the celebrations after the game were a great feeling and you could see the togetherness in the group and we just want to do ourselves proud.”
