BOYLESPORTS: Coventry City backed to end season on a high

6 May 2022

A top half finish in the Championship table is in sight for Coventry City as they make the trip to Stoke for the final game of the campaign.

There is an added incentive for Mark Robins’ men as they can post their joint-highest points tally in the Championship this century, which will be achieved if they get back on the team bus with all three points following the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday.

That would represent a third consecutive victory against Stoke and a first league double over the Potters since the 1984/85 season following the 1-0 win at the CBS Arena back in January.

Viktor Gyokeres was responsible for the only goal that day meaning he has now scored the winning goal in the last two head-to-heads against Stoke, who are winless against Coventry in the four meetings since 2008.

Coventry are 9/5 shots in the betting to sign off the season with a victory, while Gyokeres has been trimmed slightly into 11/8 from 6/4 to find the net at any time after he took his tally for the campaign to 16 with last weekend’s late goal against Huddersfield. Seven of his last nine goalscoring outings in the Championship have seen him score the last goal of the game and the Swede is 5/1 to have the final say again.

Travelling supporters can make the trip buoyed by a solid away record of late too – before the 0-0 draw with West Brom at The Hawthorns, the Sky Blues had scored seven goals across victories at both Birmingham and eventual champions Fulham.

There was also a 6-1 victory to enjoy on the final of last season too, so any punters hopeful of another scoring spree can get 28/1 about a victory by four goals or more.
