NEWS: Service to celebrate the life of John Sillett taking place today

21 March 2022

The Coventry City community and the world of football will gather this afternoon to remember and celebrate the life of John Sillett.

The Club’s legendary manager and life president passed away in November aged 85.

Close family and friends attended a private funeral in December but an invitation-only memorial service is to be held at Coventry Cathedral this afternoon.

Former Coventry City players, including the 1987 FA Cup winning squad, ex-team-mates and colleagues from John’s long and successful career will be at the Cathedral to celebrate his life.

Various speakers will be sharing their memories, while there will also be a range of video tributes from former players and contemporaries.

Representatives from Coventry City will be in attendance, including Chief Executive Dave Boddy and Manager Mark Robins.

Dave Boddy said:

“The memorial service for John will be an occasion to celebrate his incredible life and the memories that he created.

“He is greatly missed and the guest list is testament to the high regard in which he was held by so many.”
