Coventry City held its first female Fans Forum at the end of February as part of our new partnership with the #HerGameToo campaign.
This forum, which was held at the Sky Blue Tavern, saw female supporters able to ask questions of and talk to representatives from HerGameToo and Coventry City.
#HerGameToo was founded by passionate female football fans who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.
The non-profit organisation aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs.
On the panel for the Forum were Chief Executive Dave Boddy, Rebecca Shortland and Sandra Garlick from Coventry City alongside Eve Ralph from Her Game Too and the campaign’s Coventry City ambassador Laura Hartley, while the Sky Blues’ Supporter Services Officer Jodie Jones was also in attendance.
Audience members had the opportunity to share experiences, share stories or to ask any questions of the panel in a ‘safe space’ for all.
A range of topics were covered, with suggestions already made on how the Football Club could improve the experience for female supporters.
Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy said:
“I thought the meeting was a great experience and would like to thank everyone involved.
“The forum was really enlightening with, apart from myself, an all-female attendance and the discussions held were really positive and gives me the opportunity to review the way that the Club operates from the perspective of our female fans.
“It was the first time that we have managed to have face-to-face engagement with a group of supporters for a long period of time due to our ongoing COVID protocols, and I look forward to the day that we can regularly recommence fan engagement of this type.”
