The Sky Blues will face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on the opening day of the 2022/23 Championship season.
Mark Robins side will take on the Black Cats live on Sky Sports on Sunday 31st July, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm.
Sunderland return to the Championship after winning the League One Play-Off Final against Wycombe Wanderers.
It will be the first time the two side have met since Matty Godden's goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win back in March 2020.
Elsewhere, City's first home fixture will see them entertain the League One runners-up Rotherham United at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The final home fixture will be against Midlands rivals, Birmingham City, whilst a trip to the Riverside Stadium will be the destination for City's final game of the season.
