TEAM NEWS: Mark Robins takes charge of 300th Sky Blues game

Season opener marks 300th game..

31 July 2022

Mark Robins is set to take charge of his 300th Sky Blues game as his side face Sunderland in their 2022/23 Championship season opener.

In his time with the club, Robins has lead the Sky Blues to League Two Play-off success, a League One title, as well as the EFL Trophy Final triumph in 2017.

Summer signing Jonathan Panzo is handed his competitive Sky Blues debut in defence alongside Dom Hyam and Kyle McFadzean.

Ben Sheaf partners Gustavo Hamer and Jamie Allen in midfield with Josh Eccles and Jake Bidwell lining up at wing-back.

Matty Godden and Viktor Gyökeres start up top to lead the line for City.

Callum O’Hare misses out today due to a tweaked hamstring. Robins commented the matter before kick-off.

“Last kick of training on Friday he tried to back heel a ball and tweaked his hamstring, so he misses out today unfortunately.

“It’s bad news for us and Callum, so we’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll give him time and see how it settles down, but we have no idea how long it’s going to be at the moment."

Sky Blues XI: Simon Moore (GK), Josh Eccles, Dom Hyam, Kyle McFadzean (C), Jonathan Panzo, Jake Bidwell, Ben Sheaf, Gustavo Hamer, Jamie Allen, Matty Godden, Viktor Gyökeres.

Subs: Ben Wilson, Michael Rose, Callum Doyle, Fankaty Dabo, Kasey Palmer, Fabio Tavares, Tyler Walker.
