Sky Blues striker Fabio Tavares revealed his ambitions for the season after agreeing a new contract with the club.

Tavares put pen to paper on a new contract, which will see his new deal run until the summer of 2025.

After signing the deal, Fabio spoke with www.ccfc.co.uk and gave his immediate reaction, as well as his targets for the 2022/23 season.

“I’ve been waiting for a little while to get it all done and I’m buzzing I can’t lie; I love it here and I’m happy to sign.

“I just want to continue playing here and keep getting better and playing in front of the Sky Blue supporters.

“I’ve been working really hard since I came in and I’ve been biding my time and making the most of what I’ve been given.

“So, I feel like it’s a reward for myself for what I’ve done and for what more is to come if I keep going the way I have been.”

Last season, Fabio made his Championship debut with the Sky Blues, as well as scoring his first goal in the division, when finding a late equaliser against Preston North End.

Now, after achieving some of his goals last season, Fabio has set his eyes on his next targets, which include making his first start for the club.

“I had a really good year last year, and my main aim is to kick on from that and not to dwell on it too long because you can get caught up in that, so I want to kick on and be better this year in terms of playing more, scoring more and being involved more.

“Hopefully I can make my first start for the club and just kick on from there, I’m pushing for that first start and anything can happen from there.

“It was a development year for me to become a better player last year and it will be the same again this year, but also I need to take what I’ve learned onto the pitch and start playing more and showing what I can do.”

Tavares has featured in all of the Sky Blues pre-season fixtures so far, as well as travelling with the squad on the pre-season tour of Spain.

The 21 year-old has enjoyed the first few weeks back in and told how he is enjoying preparation for the start of the new campaign.

“It’s been good, we had a good week in Spain, and it was a good experience to be out there because I missed it last year with covid so it was a big thing for me and I’ve started really well and I’m enjoying it.

“It’s been a hard few weeks but I’m feeling great and I’m really enjoying it at the moment.”
