NEWS: RIP Iris Cleaver

24 January 2022

Coventry City are saddened to learn of the death of former employee Iris Cleaver.

Iris sadly passed away on Saturday.

Iris worked in the Ticket Office from 1984, and, following her retirement, would later go on to work on the matchday reception at the Ricoh Arena from 2005 to 2012.

Iris worked on reception alongside her daughter Michelle, our much loved and greatly missed colleague who passed away in 2012 at the age of just 47 and who worked for the Club for 25 years.

The pair were a warm and welcoming presence for players and officials on matchdays, while also answering calls from supporters too.

Iris is pictured with Michelle and Michelle’s son Joshua in 2011.

Coventry City was a huge part of the Cleaver family, with Iris’s late husband David working at Highfield Road for 34 years as a ground and pitch maintenance worker, and the family being huge supporters of the Club.

Iris was also a member of the Diamond Club.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Iris’s family and friends at this sad time.
