BOYLESPORTS: Sky Blues Hot Favourites For Posh Assignment

14 January 2022

Coventry City are the favourites to build on a morale-boosting FA Cup victory by getting back to winning ways in the league when they resume Championship duties on Saturday with a visit to Peterborough.

An away trip to Premier League Southampton was the prize for last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Derby County and a second win on the trot has been clipped into 6/5 from 11/8 according to the latest odds with BoyleSports.

Goals are also on the cards if the betting trends this week are anything to go by. Each of Peterborough's last three matches have seen both sides score, while Coventry have seen three of their last five matches end with both sides on the scoresheet. The recent head-to-head history also makes pretty reading for those backing goals, as six of the last eight competitive meetings between the pair have seen both teams find the net.

The match has proved popular with punters who like to back both teams scoring and that has shortened into 8/11 from even money as a result, but The Sky Blues in particular are expected to find the net having scored in five of their last six road trips. They are well fancied to do so again at hot odds-on of 2/9, while the chances of Mark Robins’ men scoring twice or more are rated at 23/20.

A victory on Saturday afternoon would see the visitors complete the double over Peterborough this season after the 3-0 victory back on home turf in September. Viktor Gyokeres bagged a brace that day and finished 2021 as City’s top goalscorer with 12 goals to his name.

He is 9/2 favourite to take his tally for the season into double figures by scoring the opening goal of the game, but Matty Godden has also been trimmed into 5/1 from 11/2 having found the net in each of the last three away games in which Coventry have scored.
