The EFL have confirmed that Joshua Smith will be the man in the middle of the Sky Blues clash with Barnsley this weekend.
Mark Robins’ side take on Barnsley at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00pm.
It will be the second time that Smith has taken charge of a game involving the Sky Blues this season with his last outing coming during City's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town in December 2021.
This year will mark Smith's 3rd season as a referee in the Football League and over that time he has officiated just one Sky Blues fixture, which was that outing at the John Smith's Stadium last year.
This season so far, Smith has awarded 117 yellow cards and four red cards in the 30 games he has officiated across the Championship, League One, League Two, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
Smith will be assisted by Jonathan Hunt and Matthew Jones whilst Sam Purkiss will act as the fourth official.
