Coventry City Football Club and the Coventry City Former Players Association (CCFPA) are delighted to announce details of the 2022 Legends Day!
Three years since the last event, Legends Day will take place on Saturday 12th March when the Sky Blues host Sheffield United at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Fans can expect around 40 former players joining them on the day to enjoy three-course hospitality, with the CCFPA out in force again as the Sky Blues welcome back our former stars.
A number of big and popular names are expected to be in attendance on what is always a special day in the Coventry City calendar, which has been much-missed since the last Legends Day in 2019.
This year there will also be a number of tributes made to George Curtis and John Sillett, who both sadly passed away in recent months, with the 35th anniversary of the 1987 FA Cup win also coming up, and other former players who have passed away since 2019.
CCFC Head of Commercial Tynan Scope said: "We are very pleased to confirm that Legends Day will be held when we face Sheffield United in March.
“It’s always a popular event and a brilliant day, and has been much missed since we were able to hold our last one in 2019.
“We’re sure fans will be looking forward to the day, as we come together to celebrate the great history of the club and the players who have contributed to it.
“Thanks to the hard work of the Former Players Association and its volunteers, we will be bringing a range of these players back and giving fans the opportunity to meet their heroes and dine and enjoy the day alongside them.
“With demand expected to be high as always for Legends Day, we recommend fans book as soon as possible to secure their place.”
Jim Brown, chairman of the CCFPA, said:
“It's three years since we've been able to hold a Legends Day.
“We've got a lot of new members since then and many of them are itching to come to their first Legends Day.
“Sadly a number of our members have passed away in the last three years and we are planning to dedicate this Legends Day to George and John.”
