Archer Bassett has a strong history and reputation for supporting local grassroot sports in Coventry.
They were aware of the good work that Sky Blues in the Community do for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire, and as big supporters of Coventry City Football Club, they made initial contact in 2017 to see if there were any opportunities to support our charity.
This led to an initial 3-year deal starting for the 2017-18 season which saw Archer Bassett become the main partner and headline sponsor for Sky Blues in the Community Player Development Centres (PDC’s).
The support over the 3 years included help to purchase a variety of new equipment such as footballs to new goalposts. This really helped support the PDC’s and allowed SBitC to grow the project from having 16 league teams in 2017 to 24 by the end of 2020.
SBitC are delighted to announce that Archer Bassett have not only agreed to continue this partnership for another 5 years but to actively develop it further.
Archer Bassett will now be the headline sponsor for more Football Development projects including our FUN based Saturday Club, Friday 4’s, Over 50’s Walking Football and the new Social Football sessions that started in 2021.
This support has helped our Player Development Centres continue to grow and we now have over 650 players who train weekly and 33 league teams.

"When the pandemic first hit in March 2020 it was around the time that our initial 3-year deal was running out. I was concerned how this might impact this partnership moving forward, so was absolutely delighted when Archer Bassett not only agreed to extend it by a further 5 years, but also develop it to further to support more of our projects.
"I can’t thank them enough for all their support, especially in these challenging times and am excited to see how it can grow further moving forwards.”
