REPORT: Sky Blues 0-0 Cardiff City

Score draw at the Coventry Building Society Arena...

29 December 2022

The Sky Blues were forced to settle for a point following a 0-0 draw with Cardiff City.

After a lively opening 15-minute spell from the visitors, the Sky Blues stamped their authority on the match and came the closest to breaking the deadlock.

However, despite their side’s best efforts, Mark Robins’ team were made to settle for a goalless draw at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

It was the Bluebirds who carved out the game’s first chance when Rubin Colwill chopped and changed before finding an angle and firing low, but the effort was comfortably saved by Ben Wilson.

The Sky Blues responded moments later when Gustavo Hamer attempted to lob Ryan Allsop, who was off his line, but the keeper pulled off a finger tip save to send it wide.

Kasey Palmer and Jamie Allen were next to test their luck as they fired shots wide of either post and Hamer followed by striking from range to force a parry from Allsop.

Hamer turned creator in the next attack as the Sky Blues countered toward goal but his pass was slightly overhit for Viktor Gyökeres which called time on the first half with the two teams level.

HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-0 Cardiff City

Ten minutes after the restart, Palmer forced Allsop into his toughest save of the match, chesting down Jake Bidwell’s cross and striking towards the Cardiff stopper.

Bidwell delivered another neat cross soon after to find the head of the darting Gyökeres but the Swede’s header was miscued.

Robins rung the changes late in the half in search of a winner but the Sky Blues were still unable to find the opener.

Substitute Todd Kane fired towards goal in stoppage time but his effort was blocked as the Sky Blues were made to settle for a point at home.
