PREVIEW: Sky Blues entertain Swansea City

Swansea visit the CBS Arena this afternoon...

16 December 2022

The Sky Blues are back at the Coventry Building Society Arena this weekend, as they entertain Swansea City in our first home fixture back since the international break.

Meet Swansea City:

A run of four draws in five games before the international break kept Russell Martin’s side within touching distance of the play-off places.

Before a run of stalemates, Swansea had been firmly in the top six, but now sit outside by only a point.

Last season was Martin’s first full season in the job with the Swans, as he looked to implement his style of football at the Swansea.com Stadium.

During the summer window, Martin was able to recruit defenders Harry Darling, Ben Blythe and Nathan Wood, as well as former midfielder Joe Allen.

Joel Piroe continues to lead the scoring charts for Swansea, this season alongside fellow striker Olivier Ntcham.

Mark Robins looks ahead to Swansea:

“It will be an interesting game, but it’s one I know we can do some damage. Last season when we played them, we didn’t start the game quickly enough and from that point of view you give them the impotence and Norwich got at them last week and they gained the initiative taking the lead early on.

“They don’t stop doing what they are doing, and they get into spaces and try and pin you deep and they try and get the ball high up the field because that’s where they’re most comfortable and that’s where they want you and we have to try do things to counter that."
