NEWS: Dave Boddy thanks fans, Burton Albion, Bristol City and EFL following fixture move

11 August 2022

Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy has thanked Sky Blues fans who went to Burton Albion, as well as thanking the Brewers and Bristol City, and the EFL.

A crowd of over 2,600 were at the Pirelli Stadium for a hastily arranged Carabao Cup tie on Wednesday night.

Boddy said:

“While the result was disappointing, the support of the Sky Blue Army was fantastic as always.

“At short notice, they made the trip to the Pirelli Stadium for the game in great number and we thank them for their support in these circumstances.

Boddy added:

“We were determined, despite the difficulties faced, to fulfil our fixture in the competition and thank everyone involved in us doing so.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Ben Robinson and all of the staff at Burton Albion. From the get-go, they provided great support and help to us at Coventry City and our staff, and a warm welcome to our fans on Wednesday night, for which we are very grateful.

“I would also like to thank Bristol City and the staff there for their co-operation and understanding in re-arranging the fixture at short notice. They chose to play the game and win the tie on the pitch, when they could have easily made it difficult for us in these circumstances.

“We also thank the EFL for their incredible support over what has been a very, very difficult period of time for the Football Club.”

Speaking ahead of next week’s home games, Boddy said that supporters will be kept up to date regarding the Coventry Building Society Arena pitch.

“Following last weekend’s postponement and the move of Wednesday’s match, we hope that the pitch at the Arena will have improved sufficiently to enable our game against Wigan Athletic to go ahead and are planning for this to be the case. We will continue to keep supporters updated.”
