NEWS: Mark Robins provides injury update

The manager has shared an update on Callum O'Hare, Liam Kelly and Todd Kane...

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins has confirmed that Callum O’Hare will be on the sidelines for at least six to eight weeks.

The midfielder suffered an injury in the build-up to the first game of the season against Sunderland and has, so far, spent four weeks out of action.

“We’re a little bit closer than last time we gave an update,” Robins has explained.

“Callum is going to be out for a little while longer. He has had two PRP injections now, so it’s where the platelets have spun and have put back into the injury to try and scar it up to encourage the healing.

“When you talk about tendons with low blood supplies to them, it means that it’s going to be quite a long period, so he is going to be a few weeks yet.

“We’re looking at possibly six to eight weeks longer, so we just have to wait and see. He’s going to have a scan at six weeks and we'll know a bit more by then.”

There was positive news when it comes to the rehabilitation of Todd Kane and Liam Kelly, who are both setting their eyes on a return.

“With Todd Kane he is going to be on the grass again soon, in the next day or two hopefully if he comes through the protocols today.

“We’re a little bit closer with Liam Kelly. He’s going to St George’s Park, and he has a meeting today and he will be assessed there.

“Liam and Callum are both flying and they’re doing some really strong work and hopefully we can get them back a bit quicker.”

Robins also revealed a new Hypobaric Chamber is being installed at the training ground, which will help with the recovery of injured players.

“We’re having a hypobaric chamber brought in which has been planned all summer, but it has taken time to get that installed and that should be in next week.

“That should help in terms of getting people back quicker, but it’s not a miracle worker by any stretch of the imagination, but it does help.”
