However, the Sky Blues responded well and had chances to level through Jonathan Panzo and Matty Godden.
Mark Robins side continued to push for that leveller and it eventually came through a moment of brilliance from Viktor Gyokeres, who left the 'keeper with no chance with a superb strike from 20 yards out.
