Goalkeeper Simon Moore throws back on his debut season with the Sky Blues, before looking ahead to City's return to action against Blackburn Rovers.
After signing in the summer from fellow Championship side Sheffield United, Simon Moore has enjoyed an impressive first season in Sky Blue - ranking joint sixth in clean sheets with nine to his name in the league.
City’s number one reflected on the team’s play-off odds, as well as previewing the upcoming challenge against promotion hopefuls Blackburn Rovers.
"I think a month or so ago, it looked like we were out of it but then we had a couple of good wins and it puts you right back in there." Moore said.
“I think it’s important to take it game by game but also realise that things change at the drop of a hat, we know that we’re good enough to be there, it’s important not to look too far ahead and take it game by game, I know everyone says that but I genuinely believe that’s the best thing to do.
“We’ve got to go into every game now as a must win, there’s so many teams fighting for that top six and I think we’ve done amazingly well to put ourselves in that position and I think the best thing to do is to go in with no expectations and no fear.
“We believe we’re good enough, we’ve got players good enough to do that and it’s what you want to be involved in, we’d rather be up there fighting for top six, rather than being at the other end of the table and fighting to stay in the league.
"Having the fans back this season has been great and they've created a carnival atmosphere this season, and they’re the games you want to be involved in.”
After his spell at the Blades, Moore set his sight on regualr first-team minutes in his next venture, something in which he’s found with the Sky Blues.
Moore assessed his time in Coventry so far, his teammates and his own personal performances, also.
“When I first came in the door, I could tell we had a really talented squad with some excellent footballers, I’ve been lucky enough to work with some fantastic teams over the years, but when I saw the quality, it was no surprise to me that we have done so well.
“I think from a personal point of view, I got off to a bit of a sticky start in pre-season, I don’t think we won a game, I hadn’t played regular football for 4 years, so I did think to myself what’s going to happen.
“Overall I’ve been happy with my performances, of course at times there will be dips, but I have to be kinder to myself because I have very high standards and expectations of myself, so generally I’ve been very pleased.
“I’ve loved my time here, it’s a great set of lads and to put ourselves in this position, I’m going to enjoy it and we’ll give it a real go for these last eight games.”
