INTERVIEW: Michael Rose Fulham Preview

Defender hoping for strong end to season…

8 April 2022

Sky Blues defender Michael Rose insists City must finish the season strong in order to continue in the same vein next campaign.

After the Sky Blues thrashed Fulham 4-1 in the reverse fixture, earlier in the season, defender Michael Rose is optimistic his side can produce a similar result this weekend.

However, the Scot is wary of the Cottagers' powers that have seen them top the Championship table, with a result in their favour confirming their promotion to the Premier League.

“It’s obviously going to be a tough game, they’ve got a lot of motivation, I think they can maybe get promoted, so it’s a tough test.” Rose began.

“Fulham are a big club, but it’s one of the games you want to play in and I think our fans have sold it out again, which is great for us, so we can hopefully send them home happy.

“Hopefully we can delay [Fulham’s promotion], that would be the ideal situation for us, but we just need to go and play our game and trust each other. Last time we played Fulham we got a really good result, so we’re definitely capable of it.

“We’ve had a couple of big wins this season, we’ve shown how good we can be at times, but for us it’s more about consistency, so hopefully we can put in one of those performances again this weekend."

The Sky Blues were themselves, up in the heights with Fulham near the top of the table for a large portion of the season, in what has overall been a stellar second year since returning to the division.

Currently in 12th spot in the league, Rose exercised the importance of riding out the season on a high, to continue their form into the upcoming 2022/23 campaign.

“That’s the motivation for us, we need to try and finish the season strong, have a bit of personal pride because it has been a good season for us and we don’t want it to peter out.

“We want to finish strong and take that momentum into next season which is really important and we all need to stick together and try get a couple of results."
